Mark Oppold becomes News Director for RFD-TV
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – January 6, 2009- Rural Media Group, Inc. is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Mark Oppold as News Director for RFD-TV, the nation’s only 24-hour a day, 7-days-a-week television network dedicated to serving the needs and interests of rural America.
At RFD-TV, Oppold will produce daily reports that will cover grain/livestock commodity markets, weather, agricultural industry news, USDA news, and commodity organizations news.
In addition, on December 29, 2008, he began hosting RFD-TV LIVE on Monday nights, and will begin producing reports from remote locations of farm shows, conventions, trade shows, etc.
“I’ve had the pleasure of both knowing and working with Mark for almost twenty years,” stated Patrick Gottsch, RFD-TV founder & president. “With his background in market analysis and agricultural news, his role as News Director is a perfect fit for the future of RFD-TV.”
During the course of Oppold’s thirty year farm broadcast career, he has worked for various radio and television stations in Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. In addition, Mark produced a syndicated commodity report titled: The Bottomline Reports that aired on over two hundred and fifty radio stations nationwide. It was during this time that he popularized the tagline: “Have a profitable day”.
Oppold has also produced daily commodity reports for Agri-Talk, a national agricultural call-in radio show. He is also a thirty year member of NAFB, National Association of Farm Broadcasters.
“I’m excited and honored to be part of RFD-TV,” said Oppold.
“While many local radio and television stations are reducing or eliminating their service to rural America, RFD-TV has aggressive plans to expand coverage of agricultural news and information”.
Raised on a farm in Iowa and truly living the rural lifestyle, Oppold is a natural fit at RFD-TV.
“Growing up one of eight children on a family farm in Iowa, I appreciate the challenges and opportunities of our farmers and ranchers and their families. They already look to RFD-TV for wholesome entertainment. I look forward to adding this vital market information and providing updated news, weather and market information to rural America,” stated Oppold.
Oppold is also a family man. He and his wife Kathi have 3 children and 5 grandchildren who all reside in the Kansas City area.
