Weather Anchor
Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide/anchor Rural American weather segments on a national cable network. Role and Responsibilities: • Communicate weather information and forecasts in a clear, concise and visually compelling manner, while utilizing state of the art weather information and graphics system. • Ability to discuss how weather affects various segments of agriculture production. • Provide weather and news content for our multi-platform distribution channels, including on-air, on-line, radio and social media venues • Other duties and projects, as determined by the News Director. • Demonstrated talent in delivering news on-camera in scripted and ad-lib situations. • Understanding of ethical and legal standards of journalism. • Assist on-air production crew, as needed. • Performs at a high level of professionalism, while under extreme pressures and tight deadlines. • The ideal candidate will have the ability to successfully work with various departments/staff to coordinate all aspects of the newscast. • Ability to create unique presentations for shows, while maintaining our goal to provide informative content about RURAL America. • Successful candidate should be dependable and able to work whenever needed, including, but not limited to mornings, nights, weekends and holidays. Qualifications, Education and Skill Requirements: • Two years experience as a TV reporter and/or weather-caster preferred. • Must have knowledge of agriculture and how weather affects various segments of agriculture production. • Must be an energetic individual with outgoing personality who possesses a strong on-camera presence. • Ability to perform in a “live" setting. • Experience with online and social media venues, a plus. • BS/BA in Communications, Journalism, Meteorology or related field is preferred. • Superior verbal, written and presentation skills required. • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays, as needed. • Must work well under pressure and have the ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines. • Proficient in various computer programs required for LIVE productions/pre-produced content. • Travel may be required – based out of Nashville, TN.
