RFD-TV SET TO LAUNCH ON COX COMMUNICATIONS - OMAHA Advanced TV Channel 275

OMAHA, Neb. (July 1, 2010) – Cox Communications and Rural Media Group, Inc.  announced today that RFD-TV, the popular rural television channel, will now be carried in Omaha and on surrounding area Cox Communications systems beginning July 1.  The 24/7 network featuring traditional music & entertainment, agriculture, equine, and rural lifestyle programming will be available to advanced TV customers on Cox channel 275.

“This is our hometown, so this particular launch is extra-special”, stated Patrick Gottsch, founder & president of RFD-TV/RURAL TV and a life-long resident of Elkhorn, Nebraska.  “RFD-TV is a channel that truly reflects mid-western, family-oriented values that simply evolved from growing up in this area.  We are so proud to now be distributed by Cox Communications, and see this as a real partnership that will be very active in the community.”

“We are particularly excited to add RFD-TV to our channel lineup since it has local roots,” said Cox SVP and General Manager David Blau. “With classic family favorite shows, we know it will be an instant hit with a large number of our customers.”

Cox Communications and RFD-TV will join forces to bring a number of high-profile events and performers from the channel to the metro area to support the launch in the coming year.   Included in these plans will be a late summer appearance from Grand Ole’ Opry star Marty Stuart & The Fabulous Superlatives, several Christmas concert performances from Brule’ featuring Paul LaRoche of Hidden Heritage, and the return in 2011 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) to Omaha, co-sponsored by Cox/RFD-TV.

“RFD-TV has been described as television-the-way-it-used-to-be, and in many ways, the rebirth of the former Nashville Network” added Raquel Gottsch, PR Director for the channels.  “We consider that a compliment.  In addition to bringing back audience favorites like HEE HAW, Crook & Chase, Ralph Emery and others, viewers are going to find a wide-variety of original programming from around the country that not only entertain, but educate as well.”

Cox Communications launches in Omaha and Oklahoma City/Tulsa combined with recent launches in other markets puts RFD-TV/RFD HD distribution into over 40 million U.S. homes.  RURAL TV, the company’s international version, enjoys distribution into another 10 million homes, primarily in the UK and western Europe.
