RFD-TV Supports the Saving of America's Mustangs Foundation

Omaha, Neb. & Del Mar, Calif, -  (July 19, 2011) -  Today the Saving America’s Mustangs Foundation accepted a $15,000 donation from RFD-TV on behalf of the  “Happy Trails” tour which features Roy Rogers faithful companions Trigger "The Golden Palomino" and Bullet "The Wonder Dog".  The donation was made in conjunction with a Saving America’s Mustangs Foundation fundraiser held July 17, 2011 in Del Mar, California.

Founded by Madeleine Pickens, the Saving America’s Mustangs project includes provides a permanent home and sanctuary for  wild horses and burros who are cared for on the organizations 18,000 acres ranch.

The “Happy Trails” tour started shortly after RFD-TV purchased the two movie and television icons in the 2010 auction of Roy Rogers memorabilia from the Roy Rogers Museum held at Christies of New York.

Trigger and Bullet are being displayed at various rural events around the country where fans may have their picture taken in front of a classic western theme. In lieu of a picture fee, RFD-TV accepts donations that are sent to support various horse and dog shelters.

“We appreciate the support of RFD-TV to assist in our efforts in preserving western heritage and caring for these wild horses,” said Pickens.  “The fact that this donation came in honor of Trigger and Bullet, two of the most loved animals in history, makes it even more special while raising awareness for the plight of America’s Mustangs.”

The RFD-TV relationship with Pickens and the Saving America’s Mustangs Foundation grew out of a friendship established at the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade® where both RFD-TV and the Saving America’s Mustangs had a float in the traditional New Year parade.

The 48-state “Happy Trails” tour will culminate on January 2, 2012 when Trigger and Bullet appear on the RFD-TV “Happy Trails” float in the Tournament of Roses Parade®.  The “Happy Trails” float will commemorate and celebrate what would have been Roy Rogers 100th Birthday.
