About the Tour

On July 14 & 15, 2010, over 1,000 items from the Roy Rogers Museum were sold at auction by Christies of New York. It was a couple of bittersweet days, as this event brought out very sentimental memories, along with the strongest emotions, from Roy Rogers and Dale Evans fans from around the world who could not believe that such a day had come.

Patrick Gottsch, founder and president of RFD-TV, was one of those people. Like millions of others, he grew up watching the Roy Rogers movies and television shows and gives credit to "The King of the Cowboys" as one of the reasons RFD-TV has so much respect for the western lifestyle, affection for horses, dogs and cattle, supports family values and tries to emulate television-the-way-it-used-to-be.

On those two days, RFD-TV was the successful bidder of Trigger and Bullet, Roy's faithful companions. Note that we did not say "buyer." RFD-TV considers ourselves as caretakers, and simply people who have now stepped up and accepted the responsibility to care for these two icons of American culture.

RFD-TV's plans are simple. We are going to do everything possible to honor the original reason that Roy Rogers started a museum with Trigger and Bullet in the first place – to keep the western spirit alive. Starting with the Trigger and Bullet Happy Trails Tour, RFD-TV is proud to announce a 48-state journey bringing Trigger "The Golden Palomino" and Bullet "The Wonder Dog" to an event near you. In celebration of what would have been Roy Rogers' 100th birthday, RFD-TV is touring the country and taking these two American icons with us. We invite you to visit us along the trail and meet Roy's beloved friends, Trigger and Bullet.
