Roy Rogers is turning 100 on Saturday, and RFD-TV isn’t about to let the milestone go unnoticed.

At 7:30 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, the rural living network is launching a two-month celebration of Rogers in honor of his birthday by broadcasting a concert featuring Roy Rogers Jr. and his son Dustin Rogers and their band the High Riders from their hometown of Apple Valley, Calif. Then, for the next two months, RFD-TV will air an assortment of Roy Rogers movies and television shows culminating on Jan. 2 with a 75-foot-long float at the Rose Bowl parade carrying Rogers Jr. and Dustin Rogers, along with Rogers’ famous (taxidermically preserved) pets Bullet and Trigger.

“You only turn 100 once, and the accolades for Dad have been tremendous down through the years, but this tribute for Dad has been real special for the Rogers family,” says Rogers Jr. “If Dad were here, I think he’d be thrilled to death to know that people still appreciate him after all these years.”

The concert also will air on rfdtv.com.
