President Obama Kicks Off His Bus Tour In Minnesota

RFD-TV was there to cover President Obama’s first stop in his three-day bus tour across the Midwest today in Cannon Falls, Minnesota for a town hall meeting.

The President addressed a crowd of around 500 covering issues and taking questions about the economy.  “We’ve got to focus on growing this economy, putting people back to work, and making sure that the American Dream is there not just for this generation but for the next generation,” said President Obama.

Questions ranged from small business growth to President Obama’s first question about renewable energy, and how it could help add jobs in America.

“We have put billions of dollars into energy research and to help move in a direction of greater reliance on fuels that are homegrown,” Obama said.

The private sector will begin creating jobs with the government as an effective partner in the process, Obama said.  “And nowhere is that more true than in rural America.”

Along with questions came Eunice Biel’s commitment to continue to create wealth for America through her family’s work at their dairy farm in Harmony, Minnesota.

Following Biel’s statement Obama said the Department of Agriculture has provided $5 billion in assistance, in the form of loans and other means, to small and medium-sized farmers across the country.  “And that creates a lot of jobs.”

President Obama’s next stop is near Decorah, Iowa at the Seed Savers Exchange Heritage Farm where he will take more questions.  Check back at rfdtv.com for updates on the President’s bus tour across the Midwest.
