Machinery of the Past
feature_image

Join Machinery of the Past crew each week for the latest in farm shops, new machinery technology, farmer innovations and, of course, Ageless Iron® and Machinery Pete. Machinery of the Past displays the early days of mechanization on the farm in North America. This weekly half-hour show profiles dozens of collectors who have restored old farm machinery, tractors and farm trucks to like-new condition. Both young and old viewers quickly gain an appreciation of how early farm mechanization has led to today’s modern equipment. In each episode RFD-TV viewers have the privilege of meeting passionate collectors and restorers and see everything from steam to early diesel power in action. Some of the equipment profiled has never before been seen on TV.

Machinery of the Past is proud to highlight farmers who have spent hours, days and years re-building tractors from essentially piles of junk. Many of the shows profile someone in their mid 80’s who can fire up a tractor built in the 1920’s as if he’s starting a modern pick-up truck. Viewing the vintage machinery videos can be a pretty emotional experience for some retired farmers as they relive the excitement of trading in a team for mechanical horsepower. Those farmers are certainly setting their dial to RFD-TV to view Machinery of the Past. RFD-TV is happy to provide men and women with the opportunity to be entertained and educated with this heritage-preserving program.
