Short Stories From Alaska

How often, in your family, has someone said “Someday, Someday I am going to Alaska.“, Or, “Someday I’m going to take us all to Alaska?” The dream of visiting the Last Frontier is alive and well (and growing) among the many of the folks of this generation. In fact, that is exactly what prompted me to create the series, “Alaska Magazine Television.”

As a native North Carolinian, I have an inborn appreciation for the beauty of a place. When Ann and I found our professional lives evolving to include Alaska, I could not resist the temptation to share this place with others.

We were proud to create an innovative partnership which included the public television stations in Alaska, Alaska Magazine, and one of the flagships of Alaskan tourism, Holland America Lines, to make it possible for us to put several television crews to workin the Great Land. Ultimately, 52 half hours of award-winning one-on-one television programming was the happy end result.

For the first time in history, we have created a series of programs that begin with Alaskans, and end with Alaskans. The spirit of the “Great Land” is imbedded in each episode of this series of programs.

You will be astounded by the vistas captured by videographers who livetheir lives on the razor sharp edge of life, between small airplanes and bottomless ice blue craters, and the courage of Alaskans who overcome unimaginable life challenges while living on their own edge of the 49th State.

It is my pleasure to share Alaska with my neighbors at RFD- TV. Enjoy!
