"Thanks to watching Dressage un Ltd on RFD tv,
I can now point out to my wife: Look at that piaffe,
it's on the spot, rhythmic and the haunches are lowered, that should be at least
an 8," a non-dressage husband has discovered
dressage. "And I know Mr. Snipper!"
Kyra Beth Houston, Executive Producer of Dressage un Ltd / Dressage.com's weekly tv program, begins each program with Mr. Snipper, her childhood Shetland pony. "I was born
loving horses. As a child, I met Walter Farley, author of the Black
Stallion series, who read my first horse story and told me to keep writing. I
never dreamed it would lead to film and this tv series."
Ky has led the Dressage
un Ltd crew to film dressage world wide on three continents, eight countries
and across the US. Filming
major events including World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain,
2002; CHIO Aachen, Germany, the world's largest
annual horse show; and World Young Horse Championships in Verden brings
the best of international dressage into your homes.
Dressage, a French word meaning training, is a conditioning
program to athletically develop the horse over years so that the horse
can mentally and physically perform the grand prix movements and become
the ultimate riding horse. "Most of us will never ride international
grand prix, but we can all have a grand prix partnership with our horse."
Dressage un Ltd's educational and entertaining
program brings this fast growing horse sport / art to non only the dedicated
dressage enthusiast but to all horse lovers. Meet the stars including Klaus Balkenhol, US team
coach; Debbie McDonald, US leading rider; and Carl Hester, Great
Britain through visits to their farms and
interviews at events. And meet the horses, too, including Invasor, PRE Stallion who competed in three Olympics leading
his Spanish team to their first ever medal, Team Silver, at Athens 2004,
and teammate, Guizo, Lusitano stallion,
who was bought as a five year old for a family horse and shown by the children
until given to their trainer to take him as far as he could. Guizo, the family horse, went all the way to two Olympics,
winning team silver at Athens. Not
bad for a family horse.
Educational programs such as scribing, how the scores are recorded, for the
riders and now for the audience as the FEI has ruled the marks by movement
must be released at major events to make dressage more transparent --- understandable. Visit
a breeding farm close to Verden, Germany where
horses are deeply bedded on straw, with new straw added on top each day,
until a front end loader cleans the entire barn as the stall walls are built
to fold against the wall giving access to the tractor.
Entertaining programs feature exhibitions even the audience favorite camel
pas de deux (musical freestyle duet), airs above
the ground, long-lining, and doma vaquera.
Dressage un Ltd's goal
is to share our passion for dressage with RFD's nationwide tv audience. Thank
you RFD, for giving us this opportunity.
