20 more competitors from Tie-Down
Roping and Barrel Racing qualifying events advance to THE AMERICAN

This
weekend, Tie-Down Roping and Barrel Racing events were held advancing 20 more
competitors to THE AMERICAN Semifinals. The Tie-Down Roping event was held in
Amarillo, Texas at the Tri State Fairgrounds and the Bill Cody Arena. The
Barrel Racing event was held in Jackson, Miss. at the Kirk Fordice Equine
Center. THE AMERICAN Semifinals will take place in Mesquite, Texas on Feb. 22-23,
2014. The top finishers from each
event after the qualifier will advance to RFD-TV’s THE AMERICAN Presented by
Polaris RANGER on March 2, 2014 at
AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. THE AMERICAN is the richest one-day rodeo
in history, with a payout of $2 million.

  • Kyle
    Dickens attends Colorado State University, where he is a member of the CSU
    Rodeo Club.
  • Trent
    Creager competed in his first and only WFNR in 2010.
  • Marshall
    Leonard is a certified paramedic.
  • Chase
    Williams grew up learning and practicing tie-down roping by his grandfather,
    Phil Fifer, who continues to compete at age 69.
  • Josh
    Peek, in 2000, was the first rodeo athlete to be inducted in the Frank Phillips
    College Hall of Fame.

Barrel Racing event

  • Talmadge
    Green, at 52 years old, has been competing in Barrel Racing for 42 years.
  • Tammy
    Fischer began riding horses before she could walk, and has a trophy from when
    she was two years old. Tammy is a six time WNFR qualifier.
  • Clint
    Sherlin, along with his parents, Joel and Nancy Sherlin, raise, train, and sell
    horses in Athens, Tenn.
  • Summer
    Huff, at 15 years old, won the National Barrel Horse Associations 2011 ID Teen World Championship.
  • Shelby
    Herrmann serves as the student president of the Texas High School Rodeo
    Association.

RFD-TV’s
THE AMERICAN Presented by Polaris RANGER
will take place on March 2nd at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Tickets
are on sale and prices range from $20 to $150, not including taxes. They
can be purchased at the AT&T Stadium Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations

The
Semifinals is the last opportunity for an athlete to qualify to compete in
RFD-TV’S THE AMERICAN Presented by Polaris RANGER.
It takes place on Feb. 22-23 in Mesquite, Texas. Tickets for The Semifinals are
available now for $14, $20 and $30 not including taxes. They can be purchased
at the Mesquite Arena’s box office and online at www.americanrodeo.com.
