RURAL RADIO adds “Outside the Barrel with Flint Rasmussen” to Friday evening lineup

Steve Kenyon promoted to new host of Western Sports Roundup

April 2, 2014 (Omaha, Neb.) –Rural Media Group announces two promotions to RURAL RADIO SiriusXM channel 80 this month. Veteran broadcaster Steve Kenyon of ProRodeoLive.com is the new host of Western Sports Roundup, airing weekdays at 6 p.m. ET. Plus, Flint Rasmussen brings his popular “Outside the Barrel” to Friday evenings at 5 p.m. ET, starting April 4.

“Rural Media Group, RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO is committed to developing western sports. It is very important that we develop stars, showcase major events and help bring western sports to the forefront. It’s very important that rural America can be updated on the sports they love and there isn’t a better place to do it then RURAL RADIO,” stated Randy Bernard, President & CEO of Rural Media Group.

Kenyon will join co-host Amy Wilson for the latest coverage of the rodeo industry, the PBR, cutting pens, reining, roping and barrel racing arenas plus horse shows and other western sporting events. In addition, Wilson hosts a weekday television segment on the Rural Evening News with video clips.

“It’s really a special honor to announce the new partnership. There’s not a better venue than RURAL RADIO to expand our efforts to reach out to the fans of western sports across the country,” Kenyon stated.

For 20 years, Rasmussen has taken real life and made it entertaining. “Sometimes I think outside the barrel and that’s what I want to bring to my radio show,” he continued, “I want people on Friday evenings as they drive to a rodeo, basketball or a football game to tune in. They can listen and be entertained through education.”
