BRASILIA, Brazil (RFD-TV) Brazil's pork industry is calling on the country's Ministry of Agriculture to temporarily suspend imports of live pigs, plasma and genetic material from the U.S.

Meatingplace.com reports the request is an effort to protect Brazilian producers from PED virus.

The Ministry of Agriculture is still contemplating the request and will hold a meeting next week to decide if the ban is necessary.
