Johnny "the Jet" Rodgers joins Omaha based, Rural Media Group
RMG hires former Cornhusker and 1972 Heisman Trophy winner as Vice President of New Business Development for the US and Canada
April 21, 2014 (Omaha, Neb.) -- Johnny “the Jet” Rodgers joined Rural Media Group, Inc. (RMG) recently as the Vice President of New Business Development. RMG expanded its team by selecting Rodgers to procure new business for rural America’s most important network. The 1972 Heisman Trophy recipient from the University of Nebraska is making a positive impact.

The 1971 Nebraska vs. Oklahoma “Game of the Century” hangs in Rodger’s office along with numerous media write-ups and awards. Rodgers welcomes the opportunity to educate his fans about RFD-TV, especially those working in agribusiness in the U.S. and Canada.
“My responsibilities are to generate and develop new business locally, nationally and internationally by creating awareness through networking and public relations. I am working with the local chamber of commerce, national chamber and the Canadian government,” stated Rodgers.

Rodgers career spans the definition of teamwork. He previously worked in the cable magazine business in San Diego where he owned the cable publication Tuned in San Diego, a cable TV and entertainment magazine. “I understand you don’t win the Heisman Trophy by yourself, national championships by yourself or build television and radio networks by yourself, it’s always in conjunction with others that you make your greatest accomplishments and teamwork makes your dreams work. About Johnny Rodgers: Johnny Rodgers known as Johnny “the Jet” Rodgers played for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers in the early 1970s. Rodgers served as a punt return specialist, pass receiver and running back. He broke virtually every offensive team record during his tenure. He was twice named to the College Football All American Team, won the Walter Camp Award and the Heisman Trophy in 1972 for most outstanding player in college football. Rodgers is famous for his “over the top” touchdown in the 1973 Orange Bowl against Norte Dame. He was selected 25 overall in the 1973 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He signed with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes and received the Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 1973.
