NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) - Leaders in the beef industry have crafted a long-range plan to help increase demand and ensure industry success. The five-year plan was drafted by a 16-member task force during the Cattle Industry Conference in Denver.

The task force created a detailed analysis of the current state of the industry and the issues and trends which could impact the beef industry over the next few years. The resulting "roadmap" is set to begin in 2016 and includes yearly benchmarks the industry hopes to reach. In terms of growth, the long-range plan aims to increase wholesale beef demand index by 2% every year. Reaching that goal depends on how the beef industry succeeds in increasing exports, protecting the business, growing consumer trust and promoting beef's value proposition.

The long range plan task force has been meeting since December 2014 and has support from the National Cattelmen's Beef Association and the Cattlemen's Beef Board. For more on this story, watch the video above.
