Growing up in rural Colby, Kansas, Amy Wilson loved being involved in farming and ranching, from running the combine during harvest to sorting cattle.
Wilson competed in her first princess pageant at age 11. In 2007, she became Miss Rodeo Kansas and went on to become rodeo’s First Lady a year later. “Getting introduced as Miss Rodeo America at the Wrangler NFR, it doesn’t get much better than that,” Wilson said.
While attending Colby Community College on a rodeo scholarship, Amy would cut commercials for a local radio station, then after graduation she focused her attention more on television.
In 2013, Wilson joined the RFD-TV team as the co-host of “Western Sports Round-Up” with Flint Rasmussen and soon after with Steve Kenyon. Today, you can watch Wilson host “Western Sports Weekly” on RFD-TV every Wednesday at 9 p.m. (ET) and listen to her on RURAL RADIO’S “Western Sports Round-Up” each weeknight at 6 p.m. (ET).
Aside from anchoring and reporting, Wilson enjoys spending her time roping and riding. “Being a cowgirl is not only something that I love, it’s who I am,” she says. From her family farm and ranch to the television screen and radio airwaves, Amy continues her work with dedication and motivation from her family. And she’ll always incorporate the values of hard work she learned growing up on the farm to bring you all the latest Western sports news on a daily basis.
