Country singer-songwriter Mark Chesnutt has been hailed by the likes of George Jones and George Strait as one of country music’s most elite entertainers. His 14 No. 1 hits, 23 top ten singles, four platinum albums, and five gold records prove that fans alike love him.

Chesnutt started his career at a young age singing alongside his father at honky-tonks in Beaumont, Texas. “Mark Chesnutt gave honky-tonk music back its soul,” noted music critic Robert K. Oermann. “When Chesnutt appeared on an arid musical landscape back in 1990, I dubbed him the hillbilly messiah,” said Oermann. “I still feel that way today and I’ll feel that way decades from now.”

Chesnutt’s latest album, “Tradition Lives,” accurately sums up the way Chesnutt likes to keep his music – traditional. “It’s called Tradition Lives because it is full of traditional country music,” says Chesnutt. “It’s the kind of music I’ve been doing my whole career, and it’s been eight years since I’ve had a CD with all new songs.” Some of the songs on the album were written up to 18 years ago but are just now being recorded. Chesnutt teases that all the songs have fiddle and steel guitar in them, giving them that classic country sound.

“This sounds just like what I used to do in the 90s but better,” says Chesnutt. “The songs are stronger – the strongest batch of songs I have ever recorded.”

Although Chesnutt has the strong vocal talent and has been a power player in country music since the 1980s, he credits his success to his fans. Fans, he confides, “are the reason for my success.”

Tradition Lives” will be officially released Friday, July 8, 2016. You can purchase the album on his website at markchesnutt.com.
