Tim Ross, Meteorologist
Tim Ross has dedicated the bulk of his life to providing Americans across the Midwest and beyond the best of weather forecast news. He brings 37 years of experience to the table, working to serve rural America in places like Twin Falls, Idaho and Oklahoma City. As a broadcast meteorologist on MARKET DAY REPORT and RURAL EVENING NEWS, Ross is committed to delivering the most up-to-date, accurate information for rural Americans and agribusiness professionals.
Raised in a small rural town in Iowa, Ross considers himself an "Iowa farm boy" at heart. "My grandparents AND great grandparents were also Iowa farmers- on both sides of the family tree. It's great to be able to connect my past with the present. I've come full circle and the timing is perfect."
Ross studied Meteorology at the University of Texas at Austin. He later earned his American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in 1983. Ross notes that of the of the nearly 1,800 Seals granted through the years by the American Meteorological Society, there are now less than ten active seal holders who have had their seals longer than he has. This makes Ross one of America’s Most Experienced Broadcast Meteorologists! He was also voted "Best Weatherman in Texas" five years in a row by both United Press International and Associated Press. After graduating, Ross provided weather coverage for KOKH in Oklahoma City, KRNV in Reno, Nevada, KUTV in Salt Lake City, Utah, KVUE in Austin, Texas, and KMVT in Twin Falls, Idaho.
He is now well-known and well-loved in Music City after moving in 1999. Ross brings over a decade-long career of reporting solely in the Nashville market. He began as an on-air meteorologist for WZTV FOX 17. Then in 2002, he started working for WSMV-TV. Most recently, he was the Morning Show News Anchor and Meteorologist on the conservative talk radio station, SuperTalk 99.7.
In his free time, Ross relaxes in front of a canvas, painting in watercolor and mixed media. He even writes and illustrates children's books with his brother, Scott Ross. You can check out his work here.
