U.S. Equestrian Wins Bronze in Rio

Olympic Cross Country Event Olympic Cross Country Event

August 10, 2016

The 2016 Olympics cross country course proved to be difficult, with only 47 out of 65 competitors making it across the finish line.

Phillip Dutton, the oldest member of Team USA, captured bronze for equestrian eventing. After six trips to the Olympics, this is Dutton's first individual medal. Every year before, only one fence has seperated him from a medal.

Dutton said, "It was a tough crosscountry (course) and it's been a grueling three days. (It was a) neck and neck fight all the way to get a medal."
