NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Relive the magic and the splendor of the 2017 annual Rose Parade on January 16th starting at 9 a.m. on RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO Channel 147 on SiriusXM Radio. Join RFD-TV equine and agriculture experts Pam Minick (American Rancher and Gentle Giants) and Orion Samuelson (This Week in Agribusiness) who will take you behind-the-scenes of the exquisite floats, spirited marching bands, and high-stepping equestrian units making their way down the 5.5-mile parade route. RFD-TV’s critically acclaimed coverage is unique to traditional network parade coverage, focusing more on the equine traditions and delivering in-depth stories about the bands, horses, equestrian units, and floats. And with fewer commercial breaks, RFD-TV provided more coverage time for high school bands and equestrian units for their friends and family to watch back home.

A few of the highlighted floats were the California Milk Advisory Board float, showing milk being poured into a bowl of cereal, sticks of butter, and various other desserts on the float. The surfing dogs of Lucy Pet Foundation’s float was incredible, spanning 125 feet and featuring real dogs having fun and riding waves in the heated pool. Another fan favorite was the AIDS Healthcare Foundation float, which honored both the victims and the survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida. Overall, the event was a resounding success!
The 2017 parade was sponsored by Animal Health International, Merial, and Syngenta U.S. and featured 44 floats, 19 equestrian units with approximately 400 horses, and 22 marching bands. The 2017 parade theme was “Echoes of Success” and focused on how character is developed through selfless contributions and inspirational gifts. Former Olympic greats and Southern California natives Janet Evans, Allyson Felix, and Greg Louganis served as Grand Marshalls.
