NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Following THE AMERICAN, RFD-TV wanted to present a special gift to a very special little boy. This past week, RFD-TV’s Amy Wilson got to spend some time with five year old Brantley Morren and his family in Indiana.
Brantley is one of a kind. He loves his family, has an endless amount of energy, and wants to be a cowboy when he grows up. From the outside looking in he seems to be a normal kid. But this rambunctious four-year-old is much more than a future rodeo star: He’s a leukemia survivor.
When his parents, Adrian and Zack, got the news of Brantley’s illness, it quickly turned in to a day they would never forget.
Adrian told Amy, “Brantley was diagnosed with leukemia when he was three. He had a rash on his neck that wasn’t going away and I was concerned. They told us it was leukemia.”
She continued, “It’s like an unimaginable feeling.”
Though the news was devastating, there was hope on the horizon. Brantley began his battle against cancer immediately, receiving treatments and seeing improvements along the way.
“He went into remission a month after being diagnosed. In February we had a good doctor’s appointment and resumed chemo. Everything has been good since then,” his mother said.
It wasn’t long before Brantley got the attention of barrel racer Jimmy Bryant, one of his heroes and a contributor to the Make-A-Wish organization.
After qualifying for RFD-TV’s THE AMERICAN Semi-Finals, Bryant wanted to do something special for Brantley. Bryant arranged and paid for Brantley and his family to make the trip to Texas to watch him compete at the infamous rodeo.
Bryant met the Morren family at the airport with a smile on his face and a limo waiting in the parking lot, but the story doesn’t end there. Watch the video to see Amy Wilson’s heart-warming role in Brantley’s inspiring journey.
