Heavy-hitter, Buddy Cannon (“Set 'Em Up Joe,” “Give It Away”), flanked by Dean Miller, (son of Roger Miller) and Waylon Payne (son of Sammi Smith) shared songs and stories of how they came to life.
Headlining the evening was Dean Dillon, who has penned countless hits (“The Chair,” “Tennessee Whiskey”), many with Cochran. His slow, deliberate storytelling and sweet, smooth song delivery had the audience hanging on every word and note.
Dillon paid homage to fellow songwriters, engineers, and producers in the crowd, but especially to the man whom he holds in highest regard.
"Hank Cochran was my friend, my father, my mentor and my teacher,” said Dillon. “He is why I am here."
