The 89th annual Texas State FFA Convention is underway this week and Texas FFA Foundation Executive Director, Aaron Alejandro, joined us today to talk more about this event and give an overview of what this organization does.

This event is held in Corpus Christi, Texas and is expected to have 13,000 members and guests in attendance. Of those 13,000 attendees, 2,500 students will be recognized for their accomplishments, with over $2 million in academic scholarships awarded.

Alejandro is the longest-serving FFA Executive Director in the U.S. at this time.

He stated, “When you look at where the future of agriculture is going, and the fact that we are going to need more food, and leaders that understand the importance of that – I will tell you that FFA members will step up to the plate and will have great opportunity in the future.”

Texas FFA is by far the largest of the state FFA organizations in the nation, but far from being greedy with his own state's success, he wants to see other state FFA organizations attain similar levels of prosperity. “If the states are strong, the National FFA is strong,” he stated.
