If there are two things that run through Wanda Shanks veins, it’s farming and basketball.
“You can combine farming and sports. We did with our three sons. I think sports is a very healthy thing for anybody, even when you’re 84.” said Wanda, a lifelong Tennessee FarmHer who always gives it her all.
When the FarmHer crew met Wanda, she and her team had just won the 2017 National Senior Games. Host Marji Guyler Alaniz tries to keep up with this basketball champ and master beef producer as she feeds her herd of cattle and operates on a new calf. The fun continues when Wanda takes Marji to town for a basketball lesson. Wanda practices as often as she can, hoping to bring home a 4th National Senior Games championship to Tennessee’s Buffalo Valley. See why her drive to succeed is passed on to everyone she meets.
