The Nation Remembers George H.W. Bush

George H. W. Bush: 1924 – 2018

December 5, 2018

Today, on this national day of mourning, our thoughts and prayers are with the family George H.W. Bush. We here at RFD-TV, along with the entire country, pay solemn and reverend respect to our 41st President, who will be remembered at a state funeral in Washington D.C. today, before being laid to rest in in College Station, Texas, on the grounds of the George Bush Library and Museum.

Former President Bush was a WWII Navy aviator who was shot down over the Pacific Ocean in 1944. Following that conflict, he enjoyed great success in the oil business in Texas, and maintained a life in public service for more than 40 years. Bush was also the father of the 43rd U.S. President, George W. Bush.

President Bush’s passing has put a hold on legislative activities in Washington this week, which will take some pressure off the Farm Bill. Lawmakers had set Friday as the finish line for the legislation, in an effort to keep the Farm Bill out of any government shutdown fights, but a short term appropriations measure would delay the looming “funding cliff” by another week or two.
