Canadian container shortage

Concern mounts in Canada following a serious shortage of containers to move grain, pulses, and oilseeds out of the country.

Shaun Haney the host of RealAg Radio speaks with RFD-TV’s Christina Loren on what is causing this shortage, what crops are being affected the most, and how concerned farmers are.

According to Haney, “Part of it has to do with COVID, and some of the slow economic trade business that was happening out of China... but the other thing is that empty containers are in really high demand in China ahead of Christmas, but this year the supply is much tighter than normal. So, for grain and pulse growers there are seasonal shortages that can be expected, but this is above and beyond that in a typical year.”
