Farmers are more concerned about climate change than before, according to survey

A new survey shows that farmers are more concerned about climate change than they used to be, but they are still skeptical on the idea of carbon markets.

The data comes from the annual Iowa Farm and Rural Life poll.

  • 4 out of 5 farmers said that climate change is happening

  • 51 percent were worried about its effects on their operations

  • 50 percent said that they are uncertain about earning money for carbon capture, or if they should reduce greenhouse emissions on their operations

  • 37 percent were in favor of a carbon market; 17 percent were not
