South African workers, H-2B visas exempted from new COVID travel ban

H-2A workers from South Africa will be given an exemption from the COVID travel ban. This will also apply to some H-2B visas as well.

The State Department granted a request from the American Farm Bureau last night. Multiple farm groups signed on saying that an estimated 5,000 seasonal workers come from South Africa every year.

The travel ban goes into effect tomorrow and is intended to limit the spread of a strain found in South Africa.
