Ethanol might have a saving grace in getting out of the pandemic rut.
The industry could fully recover by 2023, thanks to the increased use of higher ethanol blends in gasoline and larger exports.
The Food and Agriculture Policy Research Institute forecasts ethanol production at almost 15 billion gallons this year and output to rise to more than 15.5 billion gallons by 2022, and 16 billion by 2023. The Renewable Fuels Association expects exports to exceed 1.5 billion gallons this year, with China back in the market as a buyer.
