The state of Georgia is taking steps to prevent avian influenza from hitting commercial flocks after the deadly virus was found in wild birds.
The State Ag Department has canceled all exhibitions, flea markets, or auction sales and shows until further notice.
Poultry producers have been asked to take basic safety measures to protect their flocks, like moving poultry outside and monitoring flocks for any clinical signs.
The state has a $4 billion dollar poultry industry and leads the nation in broiler chicken production.
