$100K in USDA Farm To School Grants is helping put local crops on Illinois students’ lunch trays

USDA’s latest round of Farm To School Grants included a record $14 million to support more than 150 projects in schools.

Illinois received nearly $100,000 for the Urbana school district.

The money will go towards hiring a farm-to-school coordinator which will build off programs that
have already brought school gardens and ag education materials to every school in the district.

The farm the Urbana school district partners with is looking forward to helping supply more local crops in students’ daily lunches.
