Thanksgiving may be over here in the United States, but shipments of turkeys are still leaving shore.
The first shipment of U.S.-grown turkeys left for India earlier this month, and it is the first trade of its kind after a trade agreement was signed last year. The new trade deal involved around 200 independent turkey producers. Virginia lawmakers say the deal is a big victory for those growers.
The National Turkey Federation says U.S. turkey producers are committed to supplying the world with a safe, nutritious product.
