Some agricultural areas are being hit by bitter cold temperatures. Tomorrow may be the coldest this season with temperatures dropping to 20 degrees below in parts of the Dakotas and northern Minnesota. Sub-zero temperatures could be felt as far south as the Central Plains. USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey explains what happens after that.
“As we move into the upcoming weekend, the bitter cold will ease a bit across the North, but the general cold will expand to cover much of the remainder of the country. At this time, it looks like the only significant agricultural region that is going to be affected by freezes may be into the Central Valley of California, perhaps the Coastal Valley also experiencing sub freezing temperatures later this week.”
Rippey adds key ag areas in southern Texas and the Florida Peninsula should escape freezes from this event.
