NASHVILLE, TN (September 27, 2024) - Old Hickory, a Nashville-based country trio, is pleased to announce their latest track, “Better Than You,” now available everywhere. Written by band members Timothy Baker and Andy Austin with co-writer Brinley Addington, “Better Than You” is a passionate love song that compares the intensity of a relationship to the rush of the first drag of a cigarette and the warmth of bourbon on the lips. The track is the first release since the band made their debut with the album Tuesday Nights At Scoreboard, released last year. The trio has a timeless, all-natural soul, ready to revive one of country music’s lost tenants. While their music harkens back to harmony-forward acts of the past, their sound and style are updated and fresh, setting them apart in today’s country music landscape.
“‘Better Than You’ has been one of our favorite songs to play live since it was written,” says Timothy Baker. “We had so much fun bringing it to life in the studio and we are incredibly excited for it to be out in the world!”
The lyrics of “Better Than You” convey a deep, almost addictive love, where nothing in the world—a breathtaking view or a favorite song—compares to the feeling of being with this person. The song emphasizes that nothing brings the same high, buzz, or sense of contentment as the love shared, making it clear that this romance is unmatched.
Old Hickory is comprised of North Carolina’s Andy Austin, Ohio’s Dan Alley, and Kentucky’s Timothy Baker, the three vocalist/guitarists look to the harmony-laced groups country past for inspiration – from Shenandoah and Alabama to Restless Heart and Rascal Flatts – along with Brad Paisley’s electrifying energy and the mystique of bluegrass. Tuesday Nights at Scoreboard was recorded live with all three members alternating lead vocals and playing acoustic guitars. Old Hickory has recently toured with Dylan Marlow and continues to play every Tuesday night at the Scoreboard Bar & Grill.
