Crop conditions did not make any significant moves over the last week. Weather is likely to be a major player in the days ahead, with high temperatures set to hit most parts of the country.
This week’s Crop Progress Report shows corn regained a point this week, coming in at 68 percent good-to-excellent. While that crop has struggled to make any significant moves over the last couple weeks, it is still well above last year’s 55 percent. 67 percent of soybeans are in the top condition, down a point from last week. 74 percent of spring wheat is sitting at good-to-excellent, three points off last week’s read, and 82 percent of winter wheat is in the bin, coming in two points ahead of the five-year average.
Temperatures are expected to be above average for most of farm country this week. There is a chance for rain in parts of the Corn Belt but forecasters say not all areas will see moisture. Next week could also see some temperature relief, but questions remain about chances for rainfall in major growing areas.
