Extending The Cattleman Care Mentality: Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show helps Ronald McDonald Houses

While the Iowa State Fair is known for all the fun that takes place, a lot of good is also happening!

This year marks the 42nd year of the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show.
It not only showcases impressive kids and their steers but also raises money for a great organization— the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa.

According to Iowa Beef Industry Council’s Caset Anderson, “I think the best way to encapsulate what we’re here to do is extend that cattlemen care mentality forward. We talked about it so much in our industry and making sure that our livestock never had a bad day and we want to extend that same care and affection to our fellow islands and no better way for us to do that than to support the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa. If you’re not familiar with that charity and those organizations, what it does is it provides a home away from home for kids and families that are maybe facing a tough time with their kids, dealing through an ailment or a sickness or something like that, and so the funds from this auction and the event makes it so that those families can stay at those houses and really focus on what matters, which is healing and being together as a family.”

The Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show took place Saturday.
