Farm families are the backbone of rural communities, and that includes farm kids.
National Farm Safety Week is around the corner, and ag specialists have some key rules for keeping the youngest producers protected.
Supervision and established play areas top the list. Having set locations that are always kid-safe is a good idea to separate fun from danger.
Rules are another key foundation of farm safety. Setting clear boundaries with children will help them decide between right and wrong. They also recommend keeping the keys to machinery out of reach as well as other dangerous items. Any questionable items should be kept locked up.
