The Farm Bill is currently on the sidelines, waiting for congressional action.
However, talks behind the scenes now show that there is a growing push by some farm groups to get another extension passed in the meantime.
House Ag Committee ranking member, David Scott says that several farmer groups in Washington last week suggested a temporary Farm Bill. Scotts says that farmers are asking for a two-year ad hoc package with safety net protections into next year.
Although, Rep. Scott has made it clear to his colleagues that he does not support an extension.
Kansas Senator Jerry Moran has also been listening to producer feedback and growing calls for more support.
He has had talks with Senate Ag Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow over passing a Farm Assitance Package and attaching it to a Farm Bill extension.
More than a thousand ag groups have written ag leaders, asking them to pass a full five-year Farm Bill.
