Pike Valley FFA is helping feed its community in a unique way!

As FFA week wraps up, it shows how the organization continues to impact future leaders of agriculture. While the week has been full of celebration, it is also about recognizing the service that FFA members provide to the community.

In Kansas, the Pike Valley FFA chapter launched a community project called Panthers Producers, which brings together local producers who provide meat for cafeterias in their district. The group also has a garden where they grow their vegetables and fruits.

“We’ve grown our program for a small rural school in Kansas and agriculture is the number one industry. But we’re so thrilled to have students of all different backgrounds and goals,” says Advisor Katie Calgren.

Calgren is a Pike Valley Alum and a local rancher who says the organization drew her back after the advisor position presented itself. Pike Valley FFA has two North Central District FFA officers, President Jaren Aurand, and Treasurer Kiersten Morgan.
