Pop! Goes the Country
"Pop! Goes the Country", the half-hour variety country music television series, is a program of the past that has found a new home. Produced in Nashville, Tennessee, between 1974 and 1982, "Pop! Goes the Country" revisits this great era when the influence of pop music found country music as referenced in the title. It became a sensation with stars including Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Crystal Gayle and Anne Murray who had successful crossover hits from the country radio stations to pop radio air waves. The show also embraced the traditional styles of Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Charley Pride and Mel Tillis.
