Illinois’ Largest Indoor Farm Show Getting Ready For 32nd Annual Run

October 1, 2013 – Peoria, Illinois – Peoria will once-again play host to Illinois’ largest indoor farm show December 3, 4, & 5, 2013. With over 350 companies featuring 1000+ product lines in 950 exhibit booths, the event is recognized as one of the premier agricultural events in the United States. Over 30,000 area farmers are expected to visit the show over three big days.

Illinois is a National Leader in Agriculture – and BIG Equipment

Illinois is home to over 76,000 farms and 28 million acres of farmland, making it a top producer of corn, soybeans, and other specialty crops. Beef cattle and dairy operations are also key components of Illinois’ agricultural economy. With its central location and access to excellent transportation, the Illinois agricultural economy has established itself as the United States second largest exporter of agricultural products, with over $4 billion worth shipped annually.

Home to Caterpillar, Peoria, Illinois knows a thing or two about managing large equipment and putting on large events. The Peoria Civic Center provides excellent facilities, with over 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, and plenty of space for educational seminars and special events. Jim Wetherington, General Manager of the Peoria Civic Center states, “The Greater PEORIA Farm Show is one of our biggest events of the year, and our goal is to roll out the red carpet for visiting farmers. Along with the great Show, there are a lot of exciting new things going on in Downtown Peoria.”

New Technology: Focused on the Bottom Line

A key theme for the 2013 Show is on technologies that not only increase production, but reduce waste. Continued advancements in GPS and precision farming techniques will be featured, as well as products and systems to manage and balance soil fertility. In addition to a focus on grain farming, the Show has an exhibit area dedicated to livestock, hay, and forage products. Like with grain farming, the focus is on the bottom line, with new technologies and systems.
