WOOSTER, Ohio (RFD-TV) Ohio State University has a new resource for Midwest wheat growers.

OSU experts are urging producers to use a regional online assessment tool to determine their risk for head scab.

Wheat in Ohio and Indiana is nearing its critical flowering growth stage when it is most susceptible to the scab fungus.

Ten to 15 percent of scab in fields can lead to crop loss of 50 percent or more.

OSU experts say growers should apply fungicides if the forecasting tool indicates a moderate to high risk in their area.
