OMAHA, Neb. (RFD-TV) The first 24/7 international satellite radio channel devoted to serving rural interests, RURAL RADIO, was launched on SiriusXM Channel 80 on July 15, 2013. One year later RURAL RADIO continues to grow and reach new listeners every day.

THE STARTING LINE
RURAL RADIO was kicked off in big style on August 3, 2013 when more than 500 pickup trucks from 31 different states gathered at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to set a new world record for the largest parade of pickup trucks. The previous Guinness World Record of 275 was broken and is now held by RURAL RADIO with 386.
RURAL RADIO provides a variety of programming focused on agriculture, equine, hunting, fishing, western sports and rural lifestyle. Listeners can start their mornings with the “Market Day Report,” relax in the evenings and listen to the latest “Western Sports Roundup” news and get expert hunting and fishing tips from “Bass Pro Shops” on weekend road trips.

“Market Day Report,” simulcast on RFD-TV and RURAL RADIO, will start your with the latest ag news, status of the commodities market and weather in your area. You can watch RFD-TV while you eat breakfast and then listen in the truck or tractor throughout your day.

Afternoons feature plenty of talk shows to learn more about the latest in agriculture, equine and livestock care, and western sports. Every weekday, “Western Sports Roundup” brings listeners results and highlights from the rodeo arena, bull riding, cutting pen, horse shows and more and features the hard working athletes, both human and equine, for the best coverage in western sports. Friday afternoons, “Outside the Barrel,” with host Flint Rasmussen, introduces guests to personalities in western sports.
ON THE WEEKEND
Weekends with RURAL RADIO are entertaining for everybody. Music lovers can listen to some of the most popular RFD-TV music shows such as the “Jimmy Sturr Show,” “The Marty Stuart Show” and “Ralph Emery’s Memories.” “FFA Today,” with host Janet Adkison, brings listeners the latest from the National FFA organization and interviews with successful former FFA members.
EVENTS ON THE ROAD
“PBR Live” brings fans PBR Built Ford Tough Series action from all over the country throughout the year and the PBR World Finals from Las Vegas held in October. “Pro Rodeo Live,” with Steve Kenyon, brings listeners play-by-play action from popular rodeos such as Cheyenne Frontier Days, Rodeo Houston and California Rodeo Salinas.
RURAL RADIO and RFD-TV also brought listeners the 2013 National Finals Rodeo and a day full of original programming from Las Vegas in December.
RURAL RADIO’s newest special programming comes from Canada’s third most popular sport, chuckwagon racing. The World Professional Chuckwagon Association now has a home at RURAL RADIO.
