RFD-TV NEWS LAUNCHES ELECTION COVERAGE
Rural America’s Most Important Network to Cover National Politics from a Rural Perspective
(NASHVILLE, TN – MAY 27, 2015) RFD-TV News unveiled its plans to cover the major political races in the run up to the 2016 elections. The coverage of issues affecting rural Americans will be featured on RFD-TV’s daily agribusiness news program MARKET DAY REPORT (Mon – Fri, 9a – 2p ET), its evening news program, RURAL EVENING NEWS (Mon – Fri, 7:30p/11:30p ET), as well as special programming. Principal coverage will originate from RFD-TV’s Washington D.C. bureau, with additional coverage from the Chicago bureau, and its journalists on the ground. RFD-TV plans to visit 29 states throughout the summer, including the key primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. RFD-TV will broadcast from its new state-of-the-art studios on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee to 48 million homes and simulcast to the 25+ million subscribers to RURAL RADIO on SiriusXM, channel 147.
“From day one, RFD-TV’s goal has been to reconnect city with country. The needs of rural Americans have largely been ignored and we intend to highlight the issues of importance to this key voting demographic, allowing them to make informed decisions,” stated Patrick Gottsch, Founder and President of RFD-TV. “In addition to political coverage, RFD-TV News’ coverage related to food, fiber, and pharmaceutical industries are key to that reconnection. We believe this country is at its best when urban and rural Americans are working together.”
“At RFD-TV, we care about the same thing our audience cares about. Our bread and butter are issues that affect rural America. That will be our singular focus,” said Gary Kanofsky, EVP of RFD-TV News. “We’ll let other broadcasters battle for eyeballs by focusing on personalities.”
RFD-TV’s viewers are ranked #2 by index for always voting in federal elections (Golf Channel is #1) and are 28% more likely to vote than the average television network. In addition, 64% of RFD-TV viewers vote in federal, state, or local elections, while 60% always vote in federal elections. Finally, RFD-TV viewers have very high indexes for political engagement stating that they have “Called or Written a Politician” (162), “Identify As An Influencer” (151), or “Attended A Political Speech” (116).
Editor’s note: RFD-TV Founder and President Patrick Gottsch will be in New York, New York on May 27-28th and will be available for interviews in person or on the phone. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an interview.
