GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL SET TO BE FIRST GUEST ON RFD-TV’S “RURAL TOWN HALL”
Louisiana Governor to Address Issues Important to Rural Americans, Farmers, Ranchers, and Senior Citizens in Open Forum
(NASHVILLE, TN – JULY 15, 2015) RFD-TV News announced today that Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal will be the first presidential candidate to appear on its new series, RURAL TOWN HALL. The program, which will address issues affecting rural America is the first of its kind in a presidential election. Governor Jindal will outline his vision on issues such as healthcare, broadband, education, and agriculture, specifically as they relate to rural America.
RURAL TOWN HALL premieres Thursday, July 23rd at 10 PM ET on RFD-TV. Produced in conjunction with Mediacom Connections Channel and Gannett, RURAL TOWN HALL will be a series of one-hour prime-time specials focusing on rural American issues in advance of the 2016 presidential election. Questions will be solicited from RFD-TV viewers, commodity organizations, rural educators, healthcare officials, and officials from small towns who have unique concerns about rural development and other challenges facing America’s rural communities. All presidential candidates are expected to participate in this important forum over the coming weeks.

RURAL TOWN HALL will be conducted in a town hall format in front of a live audience. The first forum will be conducted at the Stine Barn in West Des Moines, Iowa. The program will air in nearly 50 million homes on RFD-TV. Check local listings for RFD-TV on Mediacom. In addition, RURAL RADIO on SiriusXM Channel 147 will simulcast each town hall to SiriusXM’s 27+ million subscribers. Mediacom Connections Channel and Gannett also plan to air the program to their viewers and subscribers.

In addition, 64% of RFD-TV viewers vote in federal, state, or local elections while 60% always vote in federal elections, ranking #2 of all cable nets (Source: 2014 doublebase GfK MRI). RFD-TV viewers have very high indexes for political engagement stating they have “Called Or Written A Politician” (162), “Identify As An Influencer” (151), “Friends Ask My Advice” (118), and “Attended A Political Speech/Great Deal Of Knowledge On The Topic” (116). Nationally, 63% of all farmers and 81% of cattlemen watch RFD-TV on a weekly basis, yet 52% of RFD-TV’s total audience resides in A & B counties. The median age of the average viewer is 62 years old.
