NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) He's on his way to the wrangler national finals rodeo in December, but this Texas roper's continuing to bank big checks along the way. The San Angelo Roping Fiesta, sanctioned by Ultimate Calf Roping, was held in Texas this weekend where the best ropers in the world competed for over $59,000.


The Cinch roping event included three rounds and a short go, in the end the winner took home a check of $10,000.
21-year-old Marty Yates of Stephenville, Texas ended up in a close second with an average of 41.82 seconds. The Stephenville cowboy is ranked third in the PRCA standings this year, and will also be making his second trip to Las Vegas this December. Marty added $7,750 to his winnings this weekend.
