Happy Birthday to Roy Clark!

NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) - Entertainer Roy Clark turns 83 years old today.  The Virginia native has been delighting audiences for decades his music and charming wit, but is best known for hosting the popular television show Hee Haw.  A master of multiple instruments, Clark's musical talents include the banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica and earned him numerous awards from the Academy of Country Music and the Grammys.  At 17, Clark debuted on the Grand Ole Opry and was asked to join the legendary organization as a member in 1987.      

Fans might be surprised to learn he originally pursued a career as an athlete.  Those flying fingers so adept at rolls on the banjo, actually packed a powerful punch and Clark was a promising boxer before embracing music full-time.
