Streamlining H-2A Program

Streamlining H-2A Program

May 12, 2016

NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Ag labor shortages could soon be over with new efforts to streamline the H-2A program.

Farmers across the country use this program to temporarily hire migrant workers, but recent delays in processing have hurt the ag labor force. Now two initiatives have been launched by the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service Department to combat the problem.
A new e-approval process will allow the department to send approval information for H-2A applications by the end of the next business day. Additionally, the branch will now use pre-paid mailers to send out notices for H-2A petitions.

The move comes after several ag groups, including the American Farm Bureau and Western Growers advocated for a change.
