Immigration: A Reason to Reform

Immigration: A Reason to Reform

Many farmers across the country are facing a lack of seasonal workers to help during harvest because of their work status. Now, the American Farm Bureau Federation is getting behind a national program that highlights agriculture's need for immigration reform, which is a priority for farmers and ranchers across America needing access to a legal and stable workforce.

This week, Farm Bureau is celebrating the launch of its "Reason to Reform" campaign, which consists of events across all 50 states featuring elected officials and business and community leaders. The events will be promoting the economic benefits of immigration reform, especially the impact on American agriculture.

American Farm Bureau's Kristi Boswell says immigration reform will ensure the successes of America's farmers and ranchers. "American Farm Bureau and farmers and ranchers are calling on Congress to pass responsible immigration reform in order to ensure that our cows get tended (to), our fruits and vegetables get harvested, and to provide that fresh local food that consumers demand in the grocery stores."
