Epic Louisiana Flooding

Epic Louisiana Flooding

August 15, 2016

The Federal Government declared a major disaster on the gulf coast over the weekend as heavy rains flooded homes, fields and roads.  At least four people were killed and over 20,000 have been evacuated.  Officials continue to urge evacuation as the Coast Guard maintains rescue efforts in the area.

"This Week in Louisiana Agriculture" reports the flooding in south Louisiana is stopping sugarcane farmers from planting and rice and corn farmers aren't harvesting. But farmers are helping others --including one who pulled stranded cars from the water with his tractor.

If you're a livestock owner in need of rescue or evacuation assistance, contact the Louisiana Agriculture and Forestry hotline at 855-452-5323.
